Counseling

My name is Vicky Martin and I am the counselor at  Sunnyside Elementary School.  Counseling is designed in the North Clackamas School District to assist students in meeting and enhancing their social, emotional, and academic development.  Briefly, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about the services I provide to students and their families.

As a counselor, I am an advocate for your child and I may talk with him/her on an individual basis or in a small group to offer additional support outside the classroom. Through the counseling curriculum in classrooms or groups, students have opportunities to improve their anger management, peer relationships, social skills, and/or problem solving skills.  I also consult with teachers and other school staff about students who are struggling behaviorally or academically.  I am part of the team of staff who provide intervention strategies.

One of the most important parts of my job is to consult with you to best meet the needs of your child.  I look forward to talking with you and sharing resources that are available to your family in the school and the community.  I hope we can work together to help your child enjoy and achieve success in the learning environment.
